With support and a personalized approach to learning, Thomas finished high school with SelfDesign and is starting college in September.
It’s National Occupational Health and Safety Week, but at SelfDesign, we consider the health, safety and wellness of all members of our community a priority every day of the year. We understand that when we feel our best, we can do our best. We know that collaborating with our community to support its overall wellbeing will help us to continue delivering what we consider to be the best educational opportunities available to learners in B.C.
At SelfDesign Learning Community, we provide services for all learners who need additional support to maximize their learning opportunities. Our learning consultants, who are all BC certified educators, work with learners, families and SelfDesign’s Family Services team to identify and support each learner’s individual needs.
Although many families spend much of their time learning at home and in their community, when SelfDesign learners do use technology for learning, we take their online safety very seriously.
In recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month, we talked to SelfDesign Counsellor Franya Jedwab about what she does as part of the Family Services team. Having been a SelfDesign parent, Franya understands what is involved in learning at home and in the community, and draws on that to help support learners and families as a counsellor.
