In September 2020, all BC schools, including SelfDesign, reopened in Stage Two of the Five Stages Framework for K-12 education.
SelfDesign’s 5 stages of return to in-person activities outlines the activities permitted in each stage, with the corresponding protocols to keep everyone safe.
Using the guidance of the Provincial Health Officer, the Ministry of Education and WorkSafeBC, we regularly update our set of protocols and procedures to protect the health of family members and contractors in our community.
Our most recent update includes:
- Changes to the Daily Health Check for contractors, service providers and families when participating in in-person activities.
- A protocol to avoid crowding or congregating in higher risk spaces.
- An updated list of COVID-19 symptoms.
- A mask requirement for contractors, service providers and families in public indoor settings and workplaces, except for those who cannot put on or remove a mask on their own.
To support the health and safety of our community, in-person family visits with educators are not permitted at this time.
We would also like to remind families and contractors that SelfDesign Learning Community, as an independent online school, does not follow the BC Public School calendar and therefore any changes to the winter break period for BC Public Schools do not impact the SelfDesign calendar.
Thank you for your continued commitment to the health and safety of everyone in our community. We will continue to update you on any changes as they are necessary.
