By River Meyer, SelfDesign Director of Organizational Learning and Culture

I’ve been a member of SelfDesign Learning Foundation’s leadership team since 2004, as well as being a parent of a child who graduated from our kindergarten-to-grade-12 program, SelfDesign Learning Community. Over the years I’ve participated in the development of various programs and resources offered to learners within and outside of British Columbia. One of those resources is a parenting course called The SelfDesign Path. It’s a self-paced journey toward partnership with our children through this learning-at-home adventure.

SelfDesign’s philosophy includes several elements that, when woven together, can create a ‘way of being’, individualized by each person yet creating a general pattern of living. They can also assist in how we can choose to parent. Many of these elements are explored in the Path course, and in this blog series I’ll go a bit deeper with a number of them.

Each topic is presented as a stand-alone article in the series. Together they offer an interwoven perspective to consider.

If you are new to SelfDesign Learning Community or you’re considering enrolling, resources like the Path course are available to you once you’ve joined us. We know that choosing to have your child learn at home and in community is a big decision – and we are here to support you on that journey right from the start.

I hope you will find seeds of inspiration as the series is published over the upcoming months!
