The SelfDesign Learning Community (SDLC) is a province-wide network of families and learning consultants supporting children learning in their homes and communities with the assistance of a SelfDesign Learning Consultant. The SelfDesign Program fosters natural, emergent learning rather than taught or imposed curriculum, and we support children and their families to nurture holistic learning and conserve the disposition of wonder within a context of love. This year (2005-2006) over 35 SelfDesign Learning Consultants (all BC-certified teachers) are offering individualized services and support to approximately 450 learners and families through our innovative, online 'Village of Conversations', the hub of our learning community. |
Enrollment for 2005/06 has ended as of April 15, 2006. Our general online application for 2006/07 will be available in June 2006. PLEASE NOTE: The Ministry of Education is introducing new policy with respect to Distributed Learning which will affect all programs in the province - both public and independent. This may have some impact on our program for 2006-2007. However, we do not have many details yet and cannot provide more information at this time. We will make any changes known on this website as soon as we are able. We remain committed to working with learners and their families in a supportive manner. We are currently interviewing and hiring approximately 10 to 12 new Learning Consultants for the 2006 2007 school year. If you are a BC Certified teacher and want to either work part time for full time from your home, then you might be interested in becoming a SelfDesign Learning Consultant. We suggest that you look over our website and then if you have excellent computer skills as well as an interest in working this way with children and families, then please forward your resume to us at - info@selfdesign.org It is certainly helpful if you have a working knowledge of alternative, holistic, child-centered, self-directed, home learning education, or at least a willingness to move beyond teaching as an educational model. |
